Only Apples cheapest watch is getting a redesign this year, new report claims
Apple is preparing to launch three new Apple Watch models in 2025, but only one is getting a redesign.
This is according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman (via MacRumors), who laid out what he knows about the company’s plans in the latest edition of his “Power On” newsletter.
Reportedly, all three new models will launch in the second half of 2025 — likely during Apple’s annual iPhone launch event, which typically takes place in September. The cheapest out of the three, Apple Watch SE, will have a “new look,” while the Series 11 and Ultra 3 models will “probably stay roughly the same,” said the report.
Previous rumors indicated that Apple might opt for a plastic casing for the Apple Watch SE, but there’s no mention of that in this report.
As for the Apple Watch Series 11, it wouldn’t be a big surprise if it stayed the same, given that it received a pretty big redesign last year, with a larger display and a thinner profile.
Should Apple Watch Ultra 3 stay the same, that would be a bit of a bummer, as that model hasn’t really changed at all since the original launched in 2022.
That might not matter, though, as the Ultra 3 will reportedly get some exciting new features, including satellite connectivity, and 5G RedCap network access. It also may finally be time for Apple to add high blood pressure detection to both the Ultra 3 and the Series 11.
