Is T-Mobile down? Users report widespread outages

Tuesday afternoon wasn’t a great time to be a T-Mobile customer.

Users of the self-proclaimed “un-carrier” reported widespread outages for both the main T-Mobile network and Mint Mobile, its subsidiary that focuses primarily on prepaid phones. According to DownDetector (a sister site of Mashable), both T-Mobile and Mint started malfunctioning for customers at around 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

That said, at the time of writing, the number of reports had decreased dramatically on the T-Mobile side of things, roughly 90 minutes after users started reporting the outage. According to DownDetector, at its peak, the outage was at its most potent in places like Chicago and Atlanta. Strangely, both T-Mobile and Mint had big outages specifically in Utah.

As of 3:50 p.m. ET, the reports are continuing to decline. This parabolic drop reveals that reports are still coming in, but they’re not as frequent as they were earlier in the day.

You can call yourself the “un-carrier,” but blackouts come for us all eventually.
