Google Maps is tweaking its look to improve the experience

Google Maps on iPhone screen

If you’ve gotten used to where Google Maps displays weather information, I have bad news for you.

Google is planning on slightly tweaking the Google Maps mobile app by putting weather somewhere else, per 9to5Google. Weather has only been part of the Maps experience for less than a year and, until this change, it has sat in the upper left hand corner of the map display as you scroll around looking for a place to get lunch. Once the change goes through (it’s only visible in beta versions of the app right now), Google is moving weather to the module on the bottom of the screen.

This change comes only a couple of months after Google Maps on iOS got a somewhat major redesign, streamlining the number of tabs on the bottom of the screen from five to three. Given that weather has only been included in Google Maps for months instead of years, the change is unlikely to ruin anyone’s day, but it is worth knowing about so you can prepare for it.

You wouldn’t want to be rained out on the way to lunch, right?
