Can you guess TikTok’s song of the summer?

FYPs are slowly morphing from Euro trips and Brat summer to back-to-school hauls and tips for being mindful and demure, marking the inevitable end of summer.

As the season winds down, TikTok has declared its songs of the summer, a list of the platform’s most popular tracks that soundtracked the longest days of the year.

The most popular track on TikTok in the U.S. this summer was “MILLION DOLLAR BABY (VHS)” by Tommy Richman. It’s soundtracked a whopping 7.5 million videos. The song’s impact goes beyond its viral snippet — “I ain’t never rep a set, baby…” — as it also appeared on Spotify’s global midsummer list. Richman’s song is followed by the endlessly meme-ed “Nasty” by Tinashe and Blood Orange’s 2011 track “Champagne Coast.” “Magic Johnson” by ian and “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” by Billie Eilish round out the Top 5.

It may come as a surprise that the ranking Sabrina Carpenter track isn’t “Espresso,” but instead her follow-up single “Please, Please, Please.” GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Wanna Be” and Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss track “Not Like Us” also earned their spots in the Top 10.

Globally, “Gata Only” by FloyyMenor and Cris MJ took the cake. Despite her undeniable cultural impact this summer, no Charli XCX songs ranked on either list. Between the lack of “Espresso” and brat, you have to question what creators thought when selecting a song to soundtrack their summer highlights.
